Measuring PLN’s CSR Program Impact using SROI

PT PLN (Persero) Parent Unit for South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan (UIW Kalselteng) conducted a measurement of social impact or Social Return on Investment (SROI). The activity was carried out in the Social and Environmental Responsibility program. This time, the SROI measurement was carried out in one of the PLN fostered communities, the Sekumpul Garbage Bank located in Martapura District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Province.

After we went directly to the field, it concluded that the value of the social impact carried out by PLN in the TJSL program for the development of the Sekumpul Waste Bank is 1.28. That means every 1 rupiah invested by PLN has an impact or benefit value of 1.28 rupiah. The value generated from SROI helps management to understand and manage the program better effectively and efficiently. So that management can make more informed decisions on program design, program strategy, budgeting, and the priority scale of each program. Apart from that, SROI can be an effective and clear communication material for stakeholders

For information, the waste bank development program run by PLN UIW Central Kalimantan is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially goal 12 (responsible consumption and production).
