Improving Health and SDGs Achievement through Sampoerna WASH Program

Senyum Untuk Negeri (SUN) collaborating with the Regional Government of Karawang Regency and supported by Sampoerna to hand over the 2021 Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program which is held in Karawang Regency.

Senyum Untuk Negeri with the Regional Government of Karawang Regency and Sampoerna work together to developing the sustainable levels of health, sanitation, and air quality by the Regional Government.

In order to improve the quality of public health and the environment, the WASH program provides access to clean water, healthy sanitation, education on clean and healthy living habits, and environmental improvements. The WASH program consists of several activities such as planting trees, providing hydroponic, providing clean water facilities, providing communal toilets, providing sorted waste bins, and education on clean and healthy living behavior.

The WASH program runs from April to November 2021 and has been implemented in various areas in West Java, including Karawang Regency, Purwakarta Regency, Majalengka Regency, Bekasi Regency, and Bandung Regency. This program has been implemented in 20 villages from 17 sub-districts in West Java Province.

This program aims to improve the quality of public health and the environment. This program was symbolically received from Sampoerna by the Head of Banyusari District, Mr. Iwan Ridwan as the representative of the Regional Government of Karawang Regency. This moment of handover also inaugurated the communal MCK building and clean water pipelines which were distributed to 150 beneficiary families in Talunjaya Village, Banyusari District, Karawang Regency.
