Tasikmalaya, Senyum Untuk Negeri – The Deputy Governor of West Java, H. Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, S.E. appreciated the English literacy program implemented by Sampoerna For Indonesia together with the Smile For the Country Foundation in West Java. This English literacy program has entered its second year which was held in 3 districts in West Java including Sukabumi, Cianjur and Cirebon. The man who is familiarly called Kang Uu also hopes that the English literacy program that has been implemented in these 12 Islamic boarding schools can be held again, especially for Salafiyah Islamic Boarding Schools in the West Java region.

Discussion related to pesantren empowerment program in West Java

PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. initiated the English Literacy Program or English Proficiency Program, through Sampoerna For Indonesia (SUI) as an effort to improve English language skills and broaden the knowledge of Islamic boarding school students. This program is in line with the “Access to Education” pillar in the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Separately, the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil said in a number of media that he would prepare an English language training program for West Java clerics to be able to convey symbols abroad.

The meeting with Kang Uu which was held at Miftahul Huda Islamic Boarding School, Manonjaya District, Tasikmalaya Regency, Wednesday (30/1/2019) was also attended by Ervin Laurence Pakpahan as Head of Stakeholders Regional Relations and CSR of PT HM Sampoerna Tbk and Widi Sulistiono, CEO of Smile For State Foundation. As a result of the meeting, apart from being committed to the English literacy program, Sampoerna plans to present an entrepreneur school at the Salafiyah Islamic Boarding School in West Java in order to support the West Java program, One Pesantren One Product (OPOP).
